Sony to developers: Please make games for us, we’ll be your friend

In what seems to be a continuing downward spiral for Sony, rumors have surfaced that Sony has practically resorted to begging third-party developers to make games for the Playstation 3. The most common reason third-party developers give for not making games for the PS3 is that the console is incredibly hard to develop for , followed by the substantially higher costs associated with the console, they could hire several Wii or Xbox 360 developers for the same cost as one PS3 developer.

Sony has already suffered lackluster sales of both it’s consoles, which Sony takes a hefty loss on each one sold, and games, people opting to instead use their PS3 as a Blu-ray player. Meanwhile the Nintendo Wii can’t stay on store shelves and the Xbox 360 tightens it’s grip on the hardcore gamers as a cheaper solution with better games.

The PS3 launched 12 weeks after the Xbox 360 and since then developers have had almost a year to publish games for the console, yet the PS3’s library remains pathetic when compared to that of the Xbox 360. Hardcore Sony fans have hope for the first-party and exclusive games that have yet to launch, but this far into the game, the damage may have already been done.
