Amazon 1-click patent struck down

Ars Technica is reporting that a large portion of Amazon’s 1-click ordering patent has been rejected by the USPTO for prior art as well as being over-broad. This is due mostly to the efforts of one disgruntled Amazon customer’s quest to take Amazon down a peg.

Peter Calveley of New Zealand, angry because his order took too long to arrive, raised the $2,520 to challenge Amazon’s patent as well as did the research and provided the prior art to the USPTO. Only 5 of the original 26 claims were upheld after the reexamination.
