Google speeds up storage counter, 4.5gb by November

Google has announced that they are speeding up the Gmail storage counter to give you an additional megabyte of email storage every 11minutes, up from 55 hours when the infinity+1 program first started. However, the validity of the counter as a indication of how much space you’re actually allowed to use on Gmail is in question as some users have already exceeded their quota without any reprimand from Google. At this rate Gmail will provide 4.5GB by November 1st and 6GB by Christmas, giving credence to those who believe the long awaited and much touted GDrive is soon to be launched.

GDrive would provide you an online storage center for your data, using advanced fingerprinting technology ensuring that Google would only have to keep and serve one copy of a super popular video file instead of keeping a copy for each user. This would, in Google’s utopia, reduce your home computer to thin client, at least for data storage, while allowing them to index your data and serve you better, more relevant ads.
