Apple has released a firmware update for the iPod touch, bringing the device to version 1.1.1. The hefty, 150MB, update’s release notes cite only “Bug Fixes” but many users are reporting that the update addresses the “Negative Black” issue some of the week 36/37 iPods were effected by. I’ve installed the update on my iPod and the screen does look better, even though my iPod wasn’t effected by the screen issue. This, of course, could be the placebo effect at work, but for some reason the colors and the blacks seem crisper and cleaner. I’ll update this post if I notice any other significant changes.
